Day trips

Michell, Janneke and me
Originally uploaded by Petra Bos.

I just finished uploading some more photos. This time there are photos from several day trips that I made during spring last year (August - October).

There are some photos from the Adelaide City Botanic Gardens during the time that the whole city was full of flowering bottlebrush trees.

There are also some photos from a road trip that Mathilde and I made in her new car. We drove all over the Fleurieu Peninsula south of Adelaide. We tried to spot some whales in Port Elliot, visited Victor Harbor and Granite Island and drove through Deep Creek National Park. Definitely worth going back there!

I also uploaded a few photos from the Moon Lantern Festival. This is an important Chinese festival that is also celebrated in Adelaide. A great atmosphere; all those people from different cultural backgrounds together on a warm spring night, having a picknick on the banks of the River Torrens and enjoying the performances and the numerous lanterns.

Then there are a few photos of our trip to Port Adelaide, the old harbour of Adelaide. It was a very windy day and we had some difficulties keeping our hair out of our faces for the photos when we climbed the lighthouse. We also did a dolphin watching cruise here and saw plenty of dolphins in the Port River.

Finally, we visited the other Botanic Gardens that Adelaide has: the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens. They are just outside of Adelaide in the hills and are massive. Very beautiful though! We were there in the time that the rhododendrons flower and that resulted in some spectacular colours in the forest!

Next time I'll have some more photos from my trip to Western Australia and after that; there is still plenty more to come... stay tuned!
