Flinders Ranges

Wow!
Originally uploaded by Petra Bos.

Around Christmas time last year my mum and dad came to visit for a few weeks. We had a great time. We started with a trip to the Flinders Ranges. On the way up we visited the old Sevenhill Winery in the Clare Valley and made an overnight stop in a very characteristic B&B in Melrose. In the Southern Flinders Ranges we stayed in an eco villa in Rawnsley Park. What a place it was! The house was beautiful, it had a great verandah and I'm not even talking about the view and the surroundings!
We spent some time enjoying the Southern Flinders Ranges and the gorges around Wilpena Pound before heading further up North to the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary. This is real outback country, rough and far from everything, but amazingly beautiful! We were lucky enough to spot some Yellow footed rock wallabies; such pretty animals.
On the way back down to Adelaide we experienced some rain, which is a rare occasion around here and all the creek beds were flooded. We stopped at the famous Prairie Hotel in Parachilna for lunch and had an overnight stop in Port Augusta before heading back to Adelaide.
